Long noncoding RNAs
Plants epigenetics
Genome Topology
Only a tiny portion of large eukaryotic genomes codes for proteins, although they are almost completely transcribed into RNA. In the last years, a growing number of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been identified and characterized in a wide range of molecular mechanisms without being processed into small RNAs. The study of plant lncRNAs has shed light on their regulatory function and their mechanisms of action, including the control of epigenetic modifications, dynamic chromatin conformation, as well as chromatin spatial distribution in the cell nucleus. In EPILAB we focus our research on lncRNAs and their role in gene expression regulation.
